The HNP, a real melting pot

English translation:
To mark the 15th anniversary of the HNP, a mass of thanksgiving was sung at the Police Academy June 12, 2010 in the presence of high command and several units of the HNP. On this occasion, the Director General of this institution, Mario Andresol, said that security forces on which rest the hopes of an entire population safe and stable country now consitutes a true melting pot.

Haiti: Established in 1995 in a difficult socio-political context, with the mission to maintain order in general and to lend support to the implementation of decisions taken by the constituted authorities. The National Police of Haiti (PNH) has just celebrated its 15 year history.

This institution has, over the past 15 years, had some good sizes and decadence, because it has not always received all the necessary framework to flourish, and especially because it has often been heavily infiltrated by individuals with different agendas.

During a Mass celebrated by Bishop Pierre André Dumas, the celebrant in the homily for the occasion, said that the High General Staff of the National Police, in recent years brought both new blood but also an approach innovative, making the local police, to serve the citizens any activity that has taken root and has yielded very positive results.

"The commemoration of its 15 clusters should enable the HNP to define its future through a stronger proximity with people," said Bishop Dumas in the presence of President Rene Preval and his wife, the high command and several units of the HNP, etc..

In addition, Bishop Dumas took the opportunity to commend the police who, despite their limited economic means, continue to offer the best of themselves by ensuring the maintenance of public order.

"These 15 years represent the age of growth and the renewal. They are the quintessence of the values of discipline and dedication that characterize this internal security force which you proud. For this, I invite you to be men and women caring and dedicated to serving the people, "he said, adding that the police are called to bring order, but also to establish a climate of trust and remain faithful to their mission is to protect and serve.

For his part, Director General of the HNP, Mario Andresol, said that nothing would permit the HNP to celebrate his 15 years in these difficult times and troubling that the Haitian people live five months after the devastating disaster that has severely ravaged the country. "We're in this time the tears continue to flow. The national police mourned by 79 police officers were mown during the earthquake. 253 agents are not available and 50 others have so far made no sign of presence, "he added.

According to him, despite everything, we must continue to work to restructure and reorganize the national police force by providing all information necessary for its processing so that it can meet the international standard for modern fonts, because the HNP is now a real crucible security and stability in the country.

He estimated that there are still countries in the copies of Haitians who have not sold their souls and their beliefs, despite the difficulties the country has experienced the earthquake. He later added: "The HNP, the only force currently available to the Republic of arrrache work-up to provide daily work enjoyable and the people must cooperate with it to better respond to the dangers."

Thus, the Minister of Social Affairs, Yves crystalline ensuring the interim Minister of Justice, meanwhile, insisted that the HNP is not just a police force to intervene or a high-tech unit but first and foremost a community that had until 12 January 9700 police and is now reduced to 9,420 men and women united by the same spirit of service and driven by the same sense of duty. "It may be noted, inter alia, significant progress in terms of increasing the size of the HNP. Of nearly 7,000 police officers in the early launching of the reform, the size of the HNP now amounts more than 9420 members. Added to this is the 900 cadets currently in training at the Police Academy, "he said.

Finally, the Minister recalled that crystalline during the past 15 years, this family had also suffered the loss. By being worthy of their motto "to serve without fail, some of them have been to sacrifice. This day has been for the police an opportunity to honor the memory of their fallen colleagues during the earthquake of January 12.
