Haiti - Insecurity : Arrest of the chief of gang Pierre Gascov, aka Bobo

A major police operation was conducted on the evening of Sept. 13, has allowed the arrest of the dangerous Cite Soleil gang leader Pierre Gascov aka Bobo, aged 32 years. He was apprehended while he was in the residence of his concubine.

The band at Bobo raged for several weeks in areas of Pèlerin up to Kenscoff and was actively sought. Bobo was arrested and sentenced on June 18, 2009 and January 12 had escaped taking advantage of the earthquake.

Aristide Rosemond, head of police in Cité Soleil welcomed this important dragnet. The arrest comes just one month after the three Bobo band members were arrested at the border of the Dominican Republic. The band at Bobo is suspected of several crimes and kidnappings in recent weeks in the hills of Petion Ville.

Frantz Lerebours, spokesman for the Haitian National Police (PNH) has specified that Peter Gascov, was the subject of a spinning.
